Last night was a pretty frustrating one. First week is always long, with the pre-bowling meeting, then filling out sanction cards etc. Well, on top of everything else, the house was completely full, not even a breakdown pair. Problem.
One of our two lanes was having a problem with the 3-pin getting caught in the rack and having to be re-set multiple times every couple of shots. So we were still in the middle of our second game while other teams were walking out of the building. This, and the fact one guy on the opposing team came late and had to make up three frames before continuing, and it was a lonnnnnng night. I was appreciative that the owner bought us a free drink, because I needed one :-)
Like most people I suspect, getting into a rhythm and shooting as soon as possible, is something that helps a great deal. I definitely lost a bit of any kind of groove, and my focus was not as good as it could have been.
The first game I shot ok, but missed three terrible spares, a 10-pin, a 4-pin, and I forget what else. 169. Second game was a little better, was off to a good start until I got a 5-10, a washout, and then a 4-9. Missed em all. 183.
Third game we finally got to move over to a new pair, as the rest of the league had finished up, and being able to get into it, no breakdowns, no waiting for bowlers on adjoining pairs, etc. helped. I was pretty consistent with a 210, that would have been better if not for a missed 6-10 when my spare ball stuck on me.
Anyway, 562 for the first week.....not too cool. Seemed like a lot of people struggled on the shot, which was flying, but I'll wipe this one out and move forward. The team won 5-of-7, so we'll take that.
