Had a more consistent night Wednesday, threw the ball better, and had no 'disaster' games. Unfortunately no good games either. All three games were in the 180's and 190's and ended up with a 562.
I missed 3 or 4 makable spares, but the bigger problem was splits, as the lanes once again were really flying. Every time I got on a roll, I derailed myself with a split, or a missed makable spare.
I truly believe the shot is more difficult this year, though there's been plenty of speculation whether or not the league and lanes is following up on its decision to make the first six weeks of this league tougher. I do know plenty of guys in this league are substantially below their averages, so it's not just me. There are a few bowlers who are still successful, so I can't completely discount many of us being rusty early.
Either way, there's still 10 pins out there and 60 feet, so I need to find something.
I'm rolling the ball better than I was the first two weeks, and hoping I'm close to a breakthrough. My goal to average 210 this year is looking pretty comical when sitting at 184 after three weeks. It's early, and a 700 somewhere along the line would help a lot. Right now just want to bowl well and keep our team up in the standings.
